1980, summer in Sicily. From a radio, the music of Franco Battiato mixes with the chirping of cicadas and the frothing of waves between Scylla and Charybdis. Two boys are lying in the shade of a maritime pine tree in a citrus grove on the seashore. The sun above them, the pine needles under their skin. But the only movement is that of the wind. Stranizza is the story of two boys who fell in love one June morning. Who lived a summer together and dreamed that one season could become a lifetime. Their story ends, tragically, with two gunshots fired by a mysterious killer. It will never be known who did the shooting, but what is known is that the real culprits are hatred and homophobia. Inspired by the true events of the Giarre crime, a story that is still relevant and important to tell.
