It is a narrative adventure that sees the author on a journey of discovery through her own gender affirmation. With an evocative first-person style, Avellino explores the events that shaped her identity, transforming guilt into a narrative of personal growth. From family and relational memories and experience in the police force, a path will emerge that is not static but dynamic, where personal evolution is performative and continuous. This intimate narrative, which touches gender in the gut, will allow even those who do not identify as trans* people to recognize themselves, thanks to the idea that each individual has his or her own personal transition that can only materialize through greater emotional awareness and real empathic reciprocity, beyond dichotomies, polarizations, and binarism; through a cultural re-evolution of the self, clear of biological limitations and social determinisms.
