We live in complex times of profound change. Times that can be frightening and cause a part of our society to close in, to entrench itself in so-called traditional family values and to spread, sometimes in violent tones, a discriminatory and homotransphobic culture. Through this volume, a group of parents of transgender and gender diverse teens (TGD) lay bare their lives with love, awareness and social commitment, and tell how they supported their sons and daughters in the journey of Gender Affirmation. Parents who have decided to voice their personal experiences to create a more inclusive, respectful and tolerant world that is welcoming and understanding. A book to debunk the clichés generally associated with being a trans person: it is not a fad, it is not a whim, it is not a disease. It is not born within dysfunctional, altered, wrong families. It is not a sexual deviance, it is not a danger to anyone. It is a condition. Being trans people for these kids is the only chance to exist.
