October 31, 2018. Bolzano. An elderly woman dies in a nursing home. It is known about her that she was homeless, yet this woman has an important story behind her. Nov. 7, 2018. Trieste. By chance Donata, on the recommendation of a friend, reads the news of her death in the Alto Adige newspaper and, after days full of doubts and questions, leaves for Bolzano and goes to her funeral. There she meets Lorenzo, the photographer who first broke the news of her death to the press and, coincidence after coincidence, Donata understands the greatness hidden behind one name: Mariasilvia Spolato. Thus begins her journey to discover the woman she was, in search of every mark she left, at a time when the few traces of her blurred into legend. A journey between Rome and Bolzano, ending two years after her death, that allowed her to get to know the one who was the first in Italy to publicly declare her homosexuality and for this reason she paid a very high price: dismissal from school and the beginning of her life of homelessness.
