A summer military camp among the woods, the river and a village of a few souls: in a situation of collective solitude and exciting outdoor confinement move the young bersaglieri protagonists of these six short stories. The wind of a desire that is at once irresistible and vague moves each of them toward a confused goal, which may occasionally be found to coincide with another’s goal, clarifying then suddenly in words or gestures even before rather imprecise plans. It is Saturday, the already bland discipline of the camp enjoys further indulgences, the sensuality of the June air, the complicity of the shadows, the whispers of nature prompt unexpected steps. The mysterious beauty of the landscape envelops the even more mysterious beauty of bodies, and nothing more than war is far from hearts.
