LGBTQ+ theatrical monologues

Many books in one. A tool for the study and analysis of the LGBTQ+ universe through the gaze of theatrical dramaturgy. A collection of work for actors and actresses of all ages who want to try their hand at new characters. A support for those who need to prepare for an audition. This volume presents a selection of monologues from theatrical texts spread over approximately one hundred years. More than fifty gay, lesbian, trans characters of the most diverse characters take the stage telling their stories, their aspirations, their feelings. Each monologue is preceded by a brief fact sheet introducing the historical context and the work. The pieces have been chosen from the vast landscape of modern Western theater production so that the flow of pages presents a rich catalog of emotions but also returns a brief history of LGBTQ+ people between Europe and the United States. Many of the selected texts have become part of the tradition, but all of them, as a whole, show how dramatic writing proves to be a kind of living archive of thoughts, behaviors, and feelings, capable of representing a rich variety of approaches and intents, which allows one to question the present.
