Passions and Other Catastrophes. A Romanced Life of Cordula Poletti

[atlasvoice]

In the early twentieth century, Lina Poletti is a talented young woman who writes poems and dramas and recites Dante from memory. She is the first Italian to boldly reveal her homosexuality. Dressed like a dandy, she seduces the most famous women of her time: the transgressive writer Sibilla Aleramo and the divine Eleonora Duse, with whom she shares artistic wanderings. He “marries” the entrepreneurial marquise Eugenia Rasponi, with whom he spends forty years of his life amid philosophy, yoga, esotericism and mystery archaeology, albeit guarded by Fascist police. She then approaches silence. Alessandra Cenni follows the protagonist’s trail, like an empathetic and tenacious detective, constructing a tale in which imagined and documented episodes merge to move from the biographical genre to an adventurous experimental novel.
