Flavia is forced to return to Sardinia for work reasons, after spending many years in Spain with her family. The events in which she finds herself at the centre lead her to reflect personally on existential themes such as love and polyamory, death, monogamy and sex, as well as on some more specifically female issues such as the menopause and motherhood. For every event or reflection that arises, whether comic or tragic, the protagonist always feels the need to consult the women of her matrilineal line: her mother, grandmother and, above all, her daughter, each of whom has always played a very specific role in her life as a woman who has historically been restless and in perpetual conflict. Flavia recounts what the constant and inevitable passage of time means for a generation of women who came of age in the 1970s, a life in constant flux and the doubts about how to cope with it. A second voice briefly comments on the protagonist’s adventures from its own perspective and the feelings they evoke, and only at the end is its identity revealed.
