words outside the norm

Our society is shot through with change. Habits and customs change, in a long-lasting process that sometimes goes on by sudden leaps. And it changes, inevitably, the language we use to describe the reality around us. These two “paths” sometimes intertwine, sometimes continue independently, observing each other from a distance. In this book we study this dual process through the analysis of certain key words. They are bearers of concepts later changed in time and space, such as family, gender, marriage, but also norm, nature, transgression and others. The etymological and historical analysis of these terms can help us understand the quality of the change taking place. Making the LGBT issue, traditionally considered marginal compared to other issues, a key to understanding the present. And one that questions us, all of us, about the idea of society we want to build for the future. Preface by Vera Gheno.
